Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT 2019

Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT 2019

A wine with medium acidity and full-bodiedness is among the most popular Tuscan drinks. The bouquet of flavors and aromas consists of a mixture of notes of chocolate, red fruits and berries, spices. There are also notes of eucalyptus, strong coffee and smoke from the fire. Red and white meats, cheeses and game help to fully reveal the facets of this wine.

Description

  • Antinori Tignanello Toscana IGT – Red dry wine. Tenuta Tignanello is located 30 kilometers from Florence, in the heart of the Chianti Classico appellation. The vines for the wine come from the Tignanello vineyard which extends over 30 hectares on organic-poor Pliocene soils with limited access to water. It was the first Tuscan sangiovese aged in small oak barrels and the first red wine in the Chianti Classico area to use the hitherto unconventional international Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varieties. Tignanello, like any other top Tuscan wine, is produced only in the best years of the harvest from carefully selected berries. After gentle fermentation and malolactic fermentation in Hungarian oak, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12-14 months and has ripe, juicy, perfectly integrated tannins and rich aromas.

Tasting characteristics

  • Color range: Intense, ruby red with a purple hue.
  • Aroma: Harmonious and complex, dominated by ripe cherries, mulberry, chocolate, wet earth, hints of spicy herbs, black pepper, clove and eucalyptus.
  • Flavor profile: In the mouth it impresses with juiciness and density of structure, an abundance of black and red berries. Bright acidity and minerality with silky tannins underlined by tones of roasted coffee and nuances of fragrant spices in a long smoky aftertaste.
  • Gastronomic accompaniment: Red meat with sauce, Florentine steak, venison fillet with mushrooms and spicy herbs, boar steak, big game bird and strong aged cheeses.
